Customizing Your Trailer Experience With FlatTrak Trailers

When investing in a new standard trailer, operators are often forced to adapt their workflow to the equipment. That’s mainly due to the inflexibility of mass-produced designs with a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

Don’t struggle with ramps and their potential risks during loading and unloading. Experience the convenience of our hydraulic decks and various other trailer customization options to fit your workflows and brand in your new trailer.

Learn how choosing and customizing your trailer from FlatTrak can improve your safety, efficiency and brand professionalism.

Why Customize Your FlatTrak Trailer?

With proper equipment trailer customization, you get a purpose-built tool designed to perform your specific work. If you’re able to install certain customization add-ons, you may experience certain benefits you otherwise wouldn’t have with a standard trailer. These advantages include:

  • Enhanced safety: Adding certain features can help protect your cargo and the operator. FlatTrak’s extra D-rings or rock guards are just a few examples of how you can achieve enhanced safety and protection.
  • Increased efficiency: Save time and labor with customization choices that can maximize productivity and your bottom line. FlatTrak’s solar chargers and deck-mounted winch enhance a trailer’s functionality and efficiency.
  • Improved brand professionalism: Show customers that you care about your brand. Instill trust and quality by matching your image to FlatTrak’s various colors. This way, you can also turn your transportation tool into a mobile billboard.

Aligning Your Trailer With Your Brand

Show off your brand and be proud of your equipment. Our color customization options fall under two categories — standard and upgrade.

Each of our trailers begins with the signature FlatTrak style that is professional and distinctive. It consists of a durable charcoal frame, striking lime green accent pieces and polar white PolyCore skins. It’s a modern and high-contrast combination designed to stand out.

For those looking to perfectly match their brand, we offer a range of color upgrades. You can specify the colors for each part of your FlatTrak trailer’s structure. There are earth tones, high visibility colors and sleek finishes.

Upgrade color examples include the following:

  • Frame: Our frames come in black for a professional look.

  • Accent pieces: Complement your frame with accents in charcoal, black, hunter green, gray, red, standard yellow, Cat yellow, orange, sapphire blue, white and sandstone.

  • PolyCor skins for enclosed trailer customization: Finish your trailer with sleek skins in gloss black, charcoal gray and metallic silver.

Building Your Custom Equipment Trailer

Here is how FlatTrak drop-deck trailers can be customized to align with your exact application.

Power and Performance Upgrades

For peace of mind that your equipment is always ready, our 5W solar panel charger is highly recommended. It’s a small solar panel mounted on the trailer, typically on the A-frame. It will continuously capture sunlight and convert it into a trickle charge that feeds the trailer’s onboard 12V battery. With it installed, the trailer will get a slow and steady current. It’s a small investment, but it ensures power is always available when you need it.

Enhanced Loading and Securement

Our deck-mounted winch plate and a deck-mounted winch form a robust system. The winch plate is a thick and reinforced plate welded onto the front of the trailer deck. In this position, it serves as a solid anchor point. The electrical winch is then directly bolted to this plate. By running a cable from the winch to your equipment, the electrical motor does all the work. It’s a nonnegotiable upgrade if you want to make loading heavy equipment a safe, low-effort, or one-person job.

Installing additional weld-on D-rings gives you greater versatility. The heavy-duty steel rings are welded onto the trailer’s frame and stake pockets. With them, you have multiple heavy-duty anchor points. You can hook chains, ropes or straps to them to tie down the cargo from multiple angles. Extra weld-on D-rings are thus highly beneficial to help protect your cargo regardless of its shape or size. More anchor points mean greater stability during transport and, inherently, more money saved from potential damage.

If you use multiple tow vehicles, an adjustable pintle ring ensures you have a secure and level connection to different tow vehicles. So, instead of having a fixed coupler, a pintle ring is mounted onto an adjustable channel with several bolt holes. You can simply unbolt the ring and move it up or down in the channel. There is no need to change the height of the trailer’s connection point. It ultimately helps you save time and hassle by eliminating the need to match specific trucks to trailers.

Jobsite Durability and Protection

Add a layer of protection to your trailer and cargo, especially high-value items, with a front rock guard. It’s an angled shield that is mounted at the front of the trailer and acts as a physical barrier against kicked-up road debris during transit. The guard deflects any hard debris, such as rocks or gravel, that would otherwise damage the trailer and cargo. Installing a front rock guard now helps prevent long-term repair costs.

If you want increased utility and hauling capacity, consider adding solid sides. The 30-inch-tall steel panels are welded upright along the sides of the trailer’s deck. It instantly gives you extra structural rigidity and hauling capacity without having loose items fall off during transit. It’s ideal if you want to get more use out of the trailer, expanding the types of jobs you can do with a single trailer.

Road-Ready Add-Ons

A potentially overlooked add-on is a spare tire — a flat tire can derail your entire day. We mount a complete, ready-to-go spare wheel and tire on the A-frame that matches the trailer. If you get a flat tire on the road or jobsite, you can unbolt the spare and swap it out. It’s a simple fix that may take 20 minutes, rather than hours of lost work waiting for assistance. It keeps your schedule and revenue stream on track, essentially.

Matching Your Trailer to Your Application

Here is a look at how these trailer customization options look in real-world applications:

  • Construction: Build a self-sufficient equipment trailer with a deck-mounted winch and an adjustable pintle ring. That way, one person can load heavy items more easily and use any truck in the fleet. Construction jobs require ruggedness and power, so a front rock guard can add extra durability in harsh environments.

  • Small business: Downtime can be significantly costly for small business owners. A spare tire or even a solar panel charger can prevent operations from halting. Another key factor is branding. Opting for the upgraded color options allows you to match the trailer’s colors to your business’s look and feel.

  • Landscaping: Those in the landscaping industry require power and extra hauling capacity. The 30-inch solid sides help contain landscape debris, while the deck-mounted winch assists with loading zero-turn mowers and other rolling equipment. Two jobs, one trailer.

  • Agriculture: Farm owners should prioritize durability and versatility. The additional weld-on D-rings will give you assurance when securing any irregularly shaped farm equipment and supplies. On the other hand, an adjustable pintle ring is your key to connecting the trailer to several of your farm trucks and tractors.
